The Anchor

In the ten years that Vernon Blackmore and our hard-working team have been at the Anchor, what we offer has developed into a very personal feel of what we feel a quayside pub should be.

We want you to enjoy the history of The Anchor’s interior so we have been very careful not to remove the pub’s old charm and character. The antique floor tiles may have been professionally cleaned but they are still wonky and remind you of all those sailors and their spilt beer from centuries past.

Over the years we have forged great relationships with passionate local producers to be able to bring you prime Suffolk ingredients, be it fish landed at the quayside or plump berries harvested just up the road where we get first dibs! And we are now having interesting vegetables grown especially for us so we can bring you an authentic taste of our Asian roots and complement Vernon’s famous curries.

We are proud to work with the support of Greene King brewery to bring you the best quality cask ales and we have recently invested in the latest cooling and beer dispense equipment for our 18th century cellar. So you are assured of a great pint, when you sup one of our real ales or other draught beers at The Anchor. And of course, we have a great range of delicious wines plus an interesting array of chilled non-alcoholic beers and soft drinks behind our well-stocked bar.
