The Kings Head (The Low House)

Listing Description

The Low House (also known as The Kings’ Head) is a rare gem of a pub. Nestled behind All Saints Church in the beautiful rural village of Laxfield, it offers a glimpse of a bygone world whilst serving the needs of its 21st century patrons.

This fine old 16th century thatched pub has no bar but serves beer straight from the casks in the Tap Room. The interior is largely unchanged since the 19th Century with small drinking rooms, high backed settles, and a warm open fire in the winter. In the Card Room, the Farmers’ table, the Settle and the dining room, there is plenty of space to relax and enjoy this unique Suffolk pub. The pub has a beautiful large garden, once the village bowling green, to be enjoyed when the weather is fine.

Since April 2022 Marie and Gareth took ownership of this Free House pub with a focus on supporting small local breweries. The beers often include Earl Soham’s Victoria and Albert Ales and the Green Jack Brewery’s Golden Best and Trawlerboys. Beers can often be drank by the Humpty Dumpty and Nethergate Breweries.

We aim to provide delicious home cooked food at reasonable prices. Please see the menu page for more details.
